The healing process of my tattoo removal + Tips

Published on 3 February 2022 at 15:52

If you have made the decision to get rid of an unwanted tattoo using laser treatments, you are likely interested in healing as quickly as possible. It is normal to experience some side effects and a little bit of discomfort (especially for me on my stomach cause it was such a big piece on a sensitive & uncomfortable spot).

But apart from the fact that it was a bit uncomfortable I didn't experience much of it. Only cause it was right in the crease of my pants. So you can imagine every time I moved my legs my belly rubbed against my pants :x So... the first days I walked around like a nudist :D cause I couldn’t stand anything rubbing on there cause the first days it was a bit sensitive.

I applied the cream nicely everyday and it healed nicely after a few days. I did not even realize that the tattoo had been removed. The worst experience I’ve had with it was that sometimes I had a tight feeling on the area but when I put on the cream it was immediately gone. And that was it..

Laser treatments are designed to use heat to break apart tattoo pigment. This allows the body to naturally remove the particles in the weeks that follow the treatment session.

The laser is going to come in direct contact with your skin, immediately after this could mean that you could experience some itching, swelling, minor burns and even blistering, After my 1st treatment on my hands I had some blisters as you can see below, also the 2nd removal on my stomach I had some scabs.

Sara Sin Clinic also uses a cooled button as you can see in the picture underneath, this will ease the healing process.

The first thing I noticed is that my skin turned white right after the treatment, which only lasted for a couple of minutes, and this is totally normal.

It usually takes about a week or two for these to heal. Complete healing usually takes about six to eight weeks. (That’s why I’ve waited so long to tell you all my experiences)

Here are some tips that you should follow after your tattoo removal.

1) Your skin is likely to experience some heat. Your skin may swell. There may also be some redness right after the treatment. You can take a painkiller before your treatment to reduce the symptoms.

2) A creme & bandage will be applied immediately after your laser treatment. This should stay in place for a few hours. After the bandage is removed, you will want to clean that area two times a day using a mild soap and water. You can pat the area dry in a gentle way.

3) It is common for medical professionals like Sara Sin Clinic to recommend a healing serum to be applied to the area that received treatment twice a day for at least three days after the treatment. This will soothe the skin and promote healing. A bandage should not be applied during this time (I sometimes used a bandage because otherwise my pants chafed in the removal area).

4) If you have some blisters; You do not want to disturb the skin while it is going through the healing process. You may see blisters form. You do not want to pop these blisters. Be sure that you do not pick at, rub, or scratch them. If you do notice that a blister starts to ooze, a cream may be applied. It should be changed twice a day until the drainage stops.

5) You should avoid shaving or waxing the area that received treatment until the skin is completely healed.

6) Besides the healing serum that was recommended by doctor Karen from Sara Sin Clinic, no other lotions, creams, or makeup should be applied to the area during the first couple of days after the treatment.

7) Avoid swimming, using a hot tub, and going to the sauna until the skin has completely healed.

8) After the initiate healing phase, you want to apply sunscreen to your skin. It should be at least 25 SPF or higher.

Before my tattoo was very dark even the shading and as you can see here underneath in the picture a lot of shadow has already been lasered off by Sara Sin Clinic. Now it is not so dark anymore, every session it will become lighter.

Every time I go for the next session you will be able to follow the results here ! Stay tuned

Results of my tattoo removal sessions

This bow tie was my very first tattoo, and as you can see in the picture the tattoo is almost gone after 1 removal. That is quite different from the tattoo below which is more recent it is a cover up so there is a lot more ink in it and it will need a little more treatments to be removed. it depends on all these aspects how quickly your tattoo can be removed.
